🧵 Fall/Winter 2025 Fabric Trends You Need in Your Closet

Image from TrendLines Fall/Winter 2025 – Boutique Hub

Fashion lovers, we’ve talked about color trends and style trends for the upcoming season—and if you missed those videos, you can catch the replays anytime on our YouTube channel. 💻

Tonight at 6 p.m. MST, join me live on Facebook for Wednesday Wardrobing Live as we dive into the must-know fabric trends for Fall/Winter 2025.

These are the key prints and textures you’ll be seeing everywhere this season—and how to style them to keep your wardrobe fresh, current, and on-trend. 🍂

🐍 Snake Prints

Animal prints are back in a big way, and snake print is leading the charge. A little goes a long way—think handbags, shoes, or belts for an edgy accent. If a full snake print blouse or skirt feels intimidating, start small with accessories to ease into this bold trend.

🧣 Tartan & Plaids

Classic tartan and cozy plaid patterns are fall staples, showing up on shackets, oversized shirts, scarves, and even coats. To keep the look polished, let your plaid piece be the star—layer it over neutral basics and solid colors.

✨ Velvet

Few fabrics say “holiday season” like velvet. This year, it’s showing up on everything from blazers to dresses. Soft, plush, and undeniably luxe, velvet instantly adds richness and depth to your look—perfect for the festive months ahead.

♟️ Gingham

gingham is traditionally seen in summer, but it’s getting a cold-weather makeover. Look for gingham in blouses layered under cardigans or blazers, or as subtle accent pieces that bring a playful check to your winter layers.

⚪ Polka Dots

Timeless and fun, polka dots add a touch of whimsy to your wardrobe. This season, they’re making a statement in black-and-white combinations on blouses and skirts—and they’ll stay strong into Spring 2026.

🤠 Western Denim

Western-inspired details are everywhere in denim right now. Look for yoke backs, pearl snaps, and contrast stitching on shirts and jeans. Style them with fringe, leather, and chunky sweaters to nail the modern cowboy-cool vibe.

🌼 70’s Prints

Bright, bold, and psychedelic, 1970s-inspired prints are having a moment. Think groovy swirls, geometric patterns, and vibrant color combos—perfect for anyone who loves a playful, statement-making look.

🧥 Faux Fur

faux fur is roaring back this season! Expect long, dramatic fur coats on the runway and in stores. Not ready to commit to a full coat? Try touches of faux fur on collars, cuffs, or trim for a subtle nod to this cozy-glam trend.

Mood-Boosting Outfits for the Between-Season Blues

Mood-Boosting Outfits for the Between-Season Blues

It happens every year… the summer sunshine is still hanging around, but your closet is feeling tired. You’ve worn your favorite summer pieces to death, yet it still feels too warm for full-on fall fashion. This “in-between” season can leave you feeling uninspired when you get dressed—but that’s exactly when the right transitional outfits can give your mood (and your style) a much-needed boost.

The secret? Choose lightweight fabrics in deeper, fall-inspired colors to ease you out of summer and into autumn. Here are some ideas from the shop that I’m loving right now:

These looks are great examples of fall transitional outfits and are from our School Days Style With Democracy and Kendra Scott Collection. See them here: https://fashioncrossroadsinc.com/collections/school-days-styles-with-democracy-08-08-25

1. Darker Neutrals in Breezy Fabrics
Our 100% Cotton and Cotton Blend Foxcroft blouses are the perfect example—light enough to stay cool, but available in richer hues that whisper “fall is coming.” They work for the office, weekends, or travel, and can be dressed up or down.

2. Short Sleeves, Fall Colors
Swap out bright summer shades for earthy tones like olive, rust, deep green, or jewel tones. Our new Scalloped Neck Top from Democracy is a perfect example—it’s short-sleeved for comfort, but the rich color feels fresh for the season ahead.

3. Lightweight Fall Prints
Plaid is a classic fall print, but in a lightweight fabric, it’s perfect for now. The new Charlie B plaid blouse is airy enough for warm days but instantly gives you that autumn look.

4. Sweaters for Cool Nights
It’s already cooling down in the evenings, which makes it the ideal time to start layering. Our 100% Cotton Avalin sweaters (made in the USA!) are light, breathable, and a customer favorite year after year. Pair them with full-length jeans, cropped denim, or even dressy capris for a polished but cozy feel.

5. Add Mood-Boosting Accessories
When in doubt, accessories can completely refresh an outfit you’ve worn all summer. A new scarf in a deep tone, a statement necklace, or a fall-colored handbag can give your look new life. We are loving the bow as a female power symbol this season, and when you have an emotional connection with your jewelry, it can boost your mood. If you haven’t embraced the stacking trend yet, this is also a way to add freshness to your look. Layering necklaces and bracelets is in, and you should mix metals, textures, and types of chains. Similarly, upping your trendiness with accessories must include a statement earring as the finishing touch. Stacked necklaces, bracelets and bold earrings will elevate your style and mood!

6. Play with Layering
A sleeveless summer dress can easily transition into fall by adding a lightweight cardigan, wearing a blouse underneath, or layering a denim vest or sleeveless shirt over the top. This not only gives you new outfit combinations but also stretches your wardrobe further. Make your look more fall by swapping your wedge sandals for shoe boots or trendy tennis shoes.

The “in-between” season doesn’t have to mean style boredom. With the right mix of lightweight fabrics and autumn-inspired colors, you can create looks that lift your mood and make getting dressed exciting again.

See examples of these six ways to chase off those mid-season blues during our Wednesday Wardrobing video which will air at 6 p.m. MST tonight on our Fashion Crossroads Inc. Facebook Page. Back To Routine, But Make It Stylish

How to Transition Your Wardrobe Without Losing Your Cool (Literally or Figuratively)

As August winds down and schedules ramp back up, it’s time to shift gears—from lazy summer mornings to packed planners and pumpkin-spiced everything. But just because the routine is back doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be boring. In fact, it’s the perfect excuse to refresh your closet with pieces that are equal parts functional and fabulous.

This week at Fashion Crossroads], we’re loving all the stylish new arrivals from Charlie B and Foxcroft, brands that know how to do transitional dressing right. Whether you’re heading into the office, school drop-off, or just trying to look like you didn’t get dressed in the dark, we’ve got you covered.

🍂 Let’s Talk Fall Transition

1. Flared Jeans Are Back, Baby
Yes, Gen X—you can wear flares again (and look amazing doing it)! The flared leg jean is making a comeback, and we are here for it. It’s flattering, leg-lengthening, and pairs perfectly with your favorite wedges now, or ankle boots later. Try them with one of our new lightweight sweaters for a look that’s chic but never try-hard.

2. Cropped Wide Leg Twill Pants
These pants are chef’s kiss for transitional dressing. Breezy enough for August heat when paired with sandals, and easy to pair with a 3/4 length boot as temps drop. We love them with a tucked-in tee and a layered necklace stack for now, then with a light weight sweater or structured Foxcroft blouse and loafers for fall.

3. Lightweight Sweaters = Your Secret Weapon
Not quite ready for pumpkin patches and chunky knits? Enter the lightweight sweater. It adds polish without bulk and is perfect for cool mornings and air-conditioned offices. We’ve got fresh styles in seasonless colors—great now, better later.

4. Foxcroft Blouses in Fall-Forward Colors
These beauties are made in breathable 100% cotton or cotton blends, so you’ll stay cool while looking like you’re fully embracing fall. Rich jewel tones and classic black and navy give off autumn vibes without trapping heat. Wear them now with polished capris, and later with slacks or denim. Style tip: Roll the sleeves for a relaxed early-fall look, then button them down when the breeze kicks in.

💡 Style Shortcuts for Busy Mornings

  • Pre-plan your outfit the night before—Bonus points if it includes a versatile piece like a Foxcroft blouse or cropped twill pant.
  • Embrace the “uniform” mindset: Have 3 go-to outfit combos that always work—like flare jeans + sweater + pendant necklace or blouse + cropped pants + loafers.
  • Layer with intention: Keep a neutral cardigan or blazer by the door. Instant polish.
  • Accessorize in 60 seconds: Statement earrings or a layered necklace stack can make anything look pulled together.
  • Don’t fight the weather: Think “seasonal color, summer weight.” Darker cotton blouses give you that fall feeling without the sweat.

Final Thought:
Back-to-school may be for the kids, but back-to-routine is for all of us. Let’s make it stylish. Join us tonight at 6 p.m. MST on Facebook or Instagram Live for Wednesday Wardrobing—I’ll be showing off these new arrivals and how to wear them now and next.

How to Rock the Denim-on-Denim Trend: Mixing, Matching, and the Canadian Tuxedo Revival

Denim is having a major moment—and not just in your favorite pair of jeans. The once-taboo denim-on-denim combo (yes, we’re looking at you, Canadian Tuxedo) has officially stepped into the spotlight, proving that when done right, more denim is more fabulous.

👖 So…What Exactly Is a Canadian Tuxedo?

Let’s break it down: A Canadian Tuxedo refers to the pairing of a denim top and denim bottom—typically a denim jacket or shirt worn with jeans. The term supposedly dates back to the 1950s, when Bing Crosby was denied entry to a Canadian hotel for wearing an all-denim outfit. In response, Levi’s custom-made him a formal denim tuxedo. The rest, as they say, is fashion history.

Once considered a fashion faux pas, the Canadian Tuxedo is now the ultimate street style move—when it’s intentional, balanced, and styled with confidence.

🔥 Why the Denim-on-Denim Trend Matters Right Now

Designers and influencers alike have embraced the denim-on-denim trend as a symbol of effortless cool with just enough throwback charm. Here in the west, denim is a part of daily life, and our casual vibe makes denim a wardrobe staple. It’s also:

  • ✅ Timeless but trendy
  • ✅ Incredibly versatile
  • ✅ A great way to get more wear from pieces already in your wardrobe

Whether you’re dressing for casual Friday or weekend errands, denim-on-denim can look polished, modern, and even edgy when styled with purpose.

💡 How to Mix and Match Denim Like a Pro

1. Mix Washes & Shades

Instead of matching your denim exactly, mix it up! Pair light wash jeans with a darker denim jacket, or try a medium blue top with black denim bottoms. This contrast keeps the outfit from looking too “uniform.”

Try this:

  • Tribal Sportswear light wash frayed denim skirt + Blu Pepper dark indigo chambray blouse
  • Cello Washed black jeans + Liverpool light denim vest

2. Play With Silhouettes

Avoid looking too matchy-matchy by combining different cuts and shapes. Try skinny jeans with an oversized denim shirt, or wide-leg jeans with a cropped denim jacket.

Try this:

  • Democracy high-rise straight jeans + Blu Pepper boxy denim button-up
  • Democracy Kick Flare jeans + sleeveless Liverpool denim vest
  • Liverpool Popover Top + NYDJ Ami Skinny Jean in Rinse

3. Add Texture & Details

Raw hems, frayed edges, patch pockets, and distressing all break up the denim-on-denim effect and add interest. Tencel denim that is soft and draped paired with a a more structured denim is another great texture combination

Try this:

  • Blu Pepper Tencel Denim Shirt + denim jacket with embroidery or grommets
  • Patch pocket wide-leg jeans + cropped denim shacket with raw seams
  • Liverpool Popover Top + Cello Midrise Flare Jean

4. Break It Up With Layers or Accessories

Layering a white tee, bold graphic top, or statement belt between your denim top and bottom helps break up the look. Add metallic jewelry or a pop-of-color bag to keep it from feeling flat.

Try this:

  • Denim-on-denim with a tucked-in white blouse
  • Liverpool Striped Tee in black and white or navy and white
  • HOBO leather crossbody in Sandstone to break up blue tones
  • Kendra Scott Sylvia Necklace and Earring in coral Quartz to add a pop of color, shine and softness

🛍️ Your Denim, Your Way

Denim is one of the most wearable fabrics around—and when you learn how to mix and match it, your wardrobe instantly multiplies. From classic Canadian Tuxedo moments to unexpected denim pairings, it’s a trend that flatters every age and body type when styled right.

Baby It’s Cold Outside: Coat Trends

After perusing my favorite trend websites and combining that with what the manufacturers that I carry focused on in outerwear this season, I have compiled a list of my top SIX coat trends for 2023.

Quilted Shell: You will likely see this trend represented in two ways this season. Either the coat will be quilted all over or there will be an inner layer that is quilted so it looks like you have layered your coat over a quilted vest, but you don’t have to fight the extra bulk that two layers inevitably causes. Both our Tribal puffers and our Yest Jacket are great examples of this trend.

Statement Puffers: The puffer jacket will just not die, and here in Wyoming, that is a good thing because in outerwear, these coats are some of the warmest available. In order to keep shoppers interested in this outerwear staple, however, this season’s puffers are colorful. From bright Fuscia pink, to hot corals, to apple greens, look for ladies to be sporting colorful coats on the streets this winter. Our Tribal Sportswear puffers are perfect examples of this trend.

Shearling: From all over shearling and faux shearling, to shearling details, this fabric is a must have trend in coats this season. We love our faux shealing zipped hoodie as a great wear by itself or layered with a quilted vest.

Tailored: Coat trends would be incomplete without a dressy option, and we love the tailored trend for this. From classic camel coats, to leather belted numbers, to classic wool coats, you will lots to choose from this season if a dressy coat is on your list. We love our Tribal Sportswear Car Coat with its classic grey boiled wool look. The 3/4 length is perfect for dressing up or wearing it with jeans.

Bombers: We haven’t seen this casual style in awhile, but grab your aviator glasses and don your bomber jacket to be trendy this season. This classic style is great paired with jeans and is an easy throw on style. We love our black Bomber jacket from Soya with its satiny soft exterior.

Leather: This fabric is really making a comeback, and it is again possible to find genuine leather jackets and coats. Here in Wyoming, we love leather because it cuts the wind, and that is a big part of staying warm. Leather jackets are also versatile, as they can be worn inside as a blazer alternative. They look nice paired over dresses too. We love our genuine leather jackets from Amsterdam Heritage with their premium Italian leather that feels as good as it smells!

Whatever type of coat or jacket you are looking for this season, it’s always good to consider the trends. After all, you can ruin an outfit with the wrong coat or an outdated coat. I will be featuring these coats in this week’s Live Sale on 12/16/23 at 9 a.m. MST. You can catch that live video on our Fashion Crossroads Inc business pages on Facebook or Instagram. Or, you can see them in our Baby It’s Cold Outside Collection.

5 Tips For Choosing Your Christmas Eve Outfit

Well, it is official….Christmas Eve is just 10 days away!! Have you picked your holiday look yet?

Whether your Christmas Eve festivities are casual or dressy, it is important to feel great and be comfortable, so you can enjoy your family and friends during this important holiday. As you consider what to wear, here are my 5 tips for making the most of your holiday look:

Choose clothing that can transition between events easily: Christmas Eve often means travelling between venues. Whether it is church and home or friends and family member’s houses, you will likely be in and out and maybe even transitioning between dressy (church) and casual (home) events. Layers are your friend in this situation. Choose comfy bottoms and then dress them up by layering sweaters and vests, tunics or blouses and cardigans, or blouses and blazers. Keep your outer most layer dressy so you can remove it when the casual part of your evening arrives.

Consider the weather and your accessories and outerwear: Heels and snow don’t mix very well unless you enjoy cold feet! If you are in a cold weather climate, like here in Wyoming, you are likely not going to choose a dress unless it is with tights and boots. It is just too cold and messy outside. Comfy clothes like tunics and leggings, blazers and jeans, cardigans and stretchy pants are a great choice. Shoe boots and tall boots are a savior this time of year because you just never know when you are going to run into a un-shoveled sidewalk or icy walkway. Sensible shoes will keep you dry, warm and safe.

Likewise, if you are heading to a party, you may want to get some air and take a break outside. Make sure you think through your outer wear accordingly, and for goodness sake, don’t ruin your outfit with the wrong kind of coat!! If you’ve dressed up, don’t put a puffy coat over the top of your look unless it is a dressy version.

Don’t limit yourself to certain colors: There are a lot of looks that can work for Christmas Eve, and you don’t need to be wearing red or green to look festive. White and black are always classic, and you can dress up a simple outfit with some sparkly jewelry to make it look very appropriate for a holiday look. Gold and cream are also a classic combo that can work very well. Having just a splash of red or a print that includes red and green are also good options. I even like raspberry and pink for holiday looks. I’ll be featuring some I have chosen in my weekly Wednesday Wardrobing video tonight at 6 p.m. MST. Watch for some other ideas besides what I have pictured here.

Add some sparkle: Adding a sequin tank or top can totally change your style from everyday to holiday. Consider the cream cardigan and gold sequin top pictured above, as a great example of this. A dressier handbag like the snakeskin printed leather crossbody in the first picture or the dressy clutches in several of the other pictures also add an element of class and sparkle. And, of course, sparkly jewelry is a must! This is the time to pull out your Swarovski crystals and wear them with pride!

Focus on the reason for the season: While looking and feeling beautiful is a worthy endeavor, how you look is not the ultimate point of the season. Connecting with your loved ones, celebrating life and the joy of the season, being grateful for your blessings and remembering the gift of God this season are the true things that will make your night sparkle. Set an intention to feel great in how you look and then be present as you go though your evening. Notice the lights, the tastes and smells, and enjoy!

Any of these looks can be found in my Kyleen’s Picks Collection for this week on http://www.fashioncrossroadsinc.com or in our brick and mortar store, Fashion Crossroads, in downtown Casper, Wyoming.

Hat, Glove And Scarf Trends for Winter 2022

Old Man Winter is fully in swing here in Wyoming, and that cold wind does blow. It is most definitely hat, glove, and scarf weather. Just like you can ruin a stylish outfit with the wrong shoes or handbag, you can also ruin a stylish coat with outdated winter accessories. That’s why you’ll want to know the latest hat, glove and scarf trends so you can keep up to date.

Hat Trends:

  1. Beanies: By far the most popular hat trend is the beanie, but there are multiple types of beanies that you can choose from. Right now, you will find Pom Beanies like the one pictured above on the right that are distinguished by some type of pom on the top, slouchy beanies that have an oversized look that hangs off the top of your head, and pony tail beanies that have holes and allow for you to wear a hat with a pony tail. Whatever type you choose, make sure it coordinates with your coat, scarf and gloves. I really recommend buying your winter accessories at the same time to keep everything matched.
  2. Other popular styles of hats right now are bucket hats, wool berets, and fedoras. Bucket hats look like you are wearing a bucket upside down on your head. Berets are classically French and are usually worn to the side of your head, and fedoras are structured hats like the one pictured at the top on the left. You will also see newspaper boy hats this season which are characterized by a bill and usually a rounded top.

Glove Trends:

  1. Vegan Leather: just like the abundance of vegan leather jackets and vests that are popular this season, gloves are following suit with faux leather and suede verities. These are great because they are usually solid colors that are easy to pair with printed scarves and hats.
  2. Plaid: Similarly, the strength of plaid this season, especially in blouses and shackets, has carried over to gloves. You’ll find a variety of gloves adorned with plaid prints. Be careful, however, not to overdo the plaid as you can end up with a plaid hat, scarf and glove which might be too much unless they are designed to go together.
  3. Knits: Gloves are really following the sweater trends this season. The strongest knits in sweaters are hombre yarns, variegated yarns and cable knit styles. You’ll find knit gloves with these same elements that are essentially mini sweaters on your hands!

Scarf Trends:

  1. Cowl neck scarves: Half the sweaters in my store right now have Cowl Necks, and some even have removeable Cowl Necks, so it is no surprise that this type of a neck can also double as a great “scarf.” The best part is you don’t have to add a scarf because your sweater will do it for you.
  2. Cashmere: This style never goes out, but this season, you will see extra long cashmere scarves that you can wrap multiple times. Watch my Wednesday Wardrobing Live Video 11/30/22 to see some examples.
  3. Fringe Edged: Scarves with fringe on the edges is also popular. These can be large, oversized scarves, or smaller wool scarves.
  4. Plaid: As with gloves, plaids are very popular in scarves this season. Just remember to match a plaid to the color of your coat and don’t over do it with too many plaid elements.

That’s it…so many options to choose from. Being truly stylish means you pay attention to how everything works together not only in your outfit but in your accessories as well. Don’t ruin a great look with out of date or mismatched outerwear accessories, and don’t ruin a great coat with a hat, some gloves and a scarf that don’t look like they coordinate.

Stay warm and stylish my friends!
