Dress Yourself Before You Dress The Turkey

Everyone’s family does Thanksgiving a little differently. The way we like to dress is just as diverse as our traditional family dishes. Some dress up, some do dressed up casual, and some do comfy. Then there are the nerves that sometimes accompany choosing our outfit for the day. Maybe you are meeting your boyfriend’s family for the first time and want to make a good impression. Maybe you have gained weight, like many of us have, during the Covid lockdowns and are feeling a little self conscious. Maybe you haven’t seen a certain family member for a long time and want to dress your best. Maybe Thanksgiving is hard emotionally and you need to feel bullet proof and great in what you are wearing. No matter your reason for looking for a new look for this Thanksgiving, in this week’s “Picks of the Week” collection, I chose some of my favorite pieces. Whether you want to look trendy, dressed up or just be comfortable, there is something in this collection for everyone.

I don’t know about you, but I love to wear fall colors to Thanksgiving dinner. My family keeps it pretty casual, but the pictures last forever, so I’ve taken to fixing my hair and doing my makeup and choosing an outfit that I won’t mind seeing for the next several months in larger than life size on the photo slide show on my T.V. Ugh. Plus there is the obligatory sharing of pictures on Facebook and Instagram too. I know, I know…it’s a bit vain, but I’m just being honest here. As such, I have chosen tops and sweaters in shades of orange, rust, ivory and wine that can be worn with jeans or slacks, depending on your family’s traditions. Plus, won’t you look pretty sitting at the table in your lovely warm colors? See all the pieces in this collection here: Kyleen’s Pick of the Week

Another top priority for me is a flattering fit, comfort and stretch. Whether you are in the dressed up or dressed down group, every item in this featured collection have been specifically picked because they offer either stretch or are loose fitting. There is nothing worse than having to pull your top away from your tummy or unbutton your jeans after dinner. I love wearing Sympli (two rust tops in the middle row) for this reason because the tops don’t cling and the bottoms are stretchy and comfortable. I can get up from the table and go watch football without feeling like I need to take a walk or stand because I’m too uncomfortable to sit down. If you need to dress up for your dinner, you really can’t go wrong with this amazing line, and their new Rust color this season is the perfect shade for Thanksgiving.
