Fall 2024 Color Trends For Women’s Clothing

Pantone’s Key Colors for Fall 2024: Embrace the Season’s Palette

As the vibrant days of summer transition into the crisp, cool air of fall, the world of fashion turns to Pantone’s Color Institute for inspiration on the hues that will define the season. Fall 2024 is all about rich, deep tones and earthy neutrals that evoke a sense of warmth, comfort, and natural beauty. These colors are not just trends; they are reflections of the season’s mood, helping you curate a wardrobe that feels both timeless and on-point.

Key Colors for Fall 2024

Tomato Cream
This warm, muted rust color is a nod to nature, reminiscent of fall foliage. Tomato Cream is a versatile hue that pairs beautifully with both neutrals and bolder shades, making it a staple for any fall wardrobe.

Scarlet Smile
A rich, earthy and gutsy red is understated yet bold. Scarlet Smile is perfect for those who love classic, sophisticated looks. It’s an excellent pop of color for fall, offering a vibrant element to your outfits.

Golden Palm
As warm as its name suggests, Golden Palm brings a toasty, golden mustard hue to the season. This color is perfect for adding a touch of warmth to your fall outfits, whether in a cozy sweater or a statement accessory.

Aventurine
This deep, rich, forest green is reminiscent of hunter green. This bold color is perfect for making a statement and adds a vibrant pop to your wardrobe while at the same time a grounding force.

Red Orange
This color is your favorite tomato soup in a bowl. The iconic fall color is warm and soothing.

Fern
Just like the name suggests, this earthy green color connotes vibrancy and life, like your grandmother’s favorite fern plant.

Italian Plum
A rich, deep red that’s perfect for the cooler months. Italian Plum is both bold and sophisticated, making it an ideal choice for evening wear or as a statement color in your day-to-day wardrobe.

Moonstruck
This muted grey anchors your wardrobe, as it can be paired with warm and cool colors

Wintersky

As cool and crisp as a morning winter sky, Wintersky pairs as beautifully with Moonstruck as it does with Scarlet Shine

Lucent White

A smoky white, Lucent White offers a crisp white neutral to the palate without being stark.

Baby It’s Cold Outside: Coat Trends

After perusing my favorite trend websites and combining that with what the manufacturers that I carry focused on in outerwear this season, I have compiled a list of my top SIX coat trends for 2023.

Quilted Shell: You will likely see this trend represented in two ways this season. Either the coat will be quilted all over or there will be an inner layer that is quilted so it looks like you have layered your coat over a quilted vest, but you don’t have to fight the extra bulk that two layers inevitably causes. Both our Tribal puffers and our Yest Jacket are great examples of this trend.

Statement Puffers: The puffer jacket will just not die, and here in Wyoming, that is a good thing because in outerwear, these coats are some of the warmest available. In order to keep shoppers interested in this outerwear staple, however, this season’s puffers are colorful. From bright Fuscia pink, to hot corals, to apple greens, look for ladies to be sporting colorful coats on the streets this winter. Our Tribal Sportswear puffers are perfect examples of this trend.

Shearling: From all over shearling and faux shearling, to shearling details, this fabric is a must have trend in coats this season. We love our faux shealing zipped hoodie as a great wear by itself or layered with a quilted vest.

Tailored: Coat trends would be incomplete without a dressy option, and we love the tailored trend for this. From classic camel coats, to leather belted numbers, to classic wool coats, you will lots to choose from this season if a dressy coat is on your list. We love our Tribal Sportswear Car Coat with its classic grey boiled wool look. The 3/4 length is perfect for dressing up or wearing it with jeans.

Bombers: We haven’t seen this casual style in awhile, but grab your aviator glasses and don your bomber jacket to be trendy this season. This classic style is great paired with jeans and is an easy throw on style. We love our black Bomber jacket from Soya with its satiny soft exterior.

Leather: This fabric is really making a comeback, and it is again possible to find genuine leather jackets and coats. Here in Wyoming, we love leather because it cuts the wind, and that is a big part of staying warm. Leather jackets are also versatile, as they can be worn inside as a blazer alternative. They look nice paired over dresses too. We love our genuine leather jackets from Amsterdam Heritage with their premium Italian leather that feels as good as it smells!

Whatever type of coat or jacket you are looking for this season, it’s always good to consider the trends. After all, you can ruin an outfit with the wrong coat or an outdated coat. I will be featuring these coats in this week’s Live Sale on 12/16/23 at 9 a.m. MST. You can catch that live video on our Fashion Crossroads Inc business pages on Facebook or Instagram. Or, you can see them in our Baby It’s Cold Outside Collection.

    Top 7 Denim Trends For Fall/Winter 2023

In this month’s Wednesday Wardrobing Series, I have covered the key fashion trends for Fall/Winter 2023. First, I reviewed the key colors for this season. Next, I went over the important style trends. Last week, I covered the fabric and material trends. For the last video in this month’s series, I wanted to spend some time on the key denim trends.

First of all, denim IS a trend this season. As discussed in my video on Style Trends, denim on denim is one of the key looks this season. You can match or mismatch your denim, but going head to toe denim is trendy.

With that said, here are my top 7 denim trends for the fall/winter 2023 season:

These looks summarize many of the denim trends I am describing and are all available on fashioncrossroadsinc.com. I have put them in a special collection to make browsing easy. You can find that collection here: https://fashioncrossroadsinc.com/collections/kyleens-picks-for-the-week

    1. Wide leg denim: Whether it is a 70’s worthy flare, a cropped wide leg pant, or an Itty Bitty Bootcut, wide legs are in and especially in denim. These can be tricky for petite women, so this is where the cropped trend really comes in handy. For taller women, this look is designed to be an ankle pant, but it works equally well for shorter women to be able to get a wide leg jean that they can actually wear.
    2. Colored Denim: This has been an important trend for several seasons now and shows no signs of slowing down. You will find an array of colored denim from bright to earthy colors. What we love about colored denim is that for many women, it works for business casual dressing and so is office appropriate.
    3. Denim Skirts: Denim skirts are so back, and whether is it a knee length pencil skirt style or a longer flared style, these skirts are great for any season. Pair a short denim skirt with tights and boots to make it winter worthy.
    4. Denim Jackets: From vintage, to dark, to grey, to colored, the denim jacket is a must have accessory this season. It is the perfect way to pull off the denim on denim trend and also is an indispensable layer as our fall turns colder.
    5. Grey Denim: Stone washed grey is a key trend in denim this season, and the great thing about grey is that it serves as a basic you can pair with so many things. Mixing up light and dark greys is a fun new twist on denim as is pairing grey with one of the many great colors that it compliments. Treat it like your black jeans; the sky is the limit.
    6. Embellished Denim: We are still seeing elevated denim styles that are embellished with fringe hems, embroidery, and sequins. These little additions make your denim distinctive and up your style game.
    7. Dressed Up Denim: With the huge trendiness of blazers this season, dressing up your jeans with a blazer and heels is so in. This classic 80’s style is a great way to take your denim to a new level and perfect for casual Fridays at the office.

I will be doing a live video tonight on my Fashion Crossroads Business Facebook Page where I will be showing examples of all of these trends. You can tune in at 6 p.m. MST to watch live or catch the replay. You can also find the looks from this blog post on our online store at https://fashioncrossroadsinc.com/collections/kyleens-picks-for-the-week

Top 7 Fall/Winter Fabric and Material Trends for 2023

Over the last two Wednesdays, I have covered the key color and style trends for the Fall/Winter 2023 season in fashion. If you missed those blogs, you can check those out here: Color Trends and Style Trends. The round out my trend reviews, it is also important to cover the key fabric and material trends for the season. Here they are:

    1. Heavy Metal: Look for chunky metals this season in accessories. In true 80’s fashion, thick and substantial jewelry will be your statement making and trendy choice.
    2. Chunky Knit Wear: This season, you will have a multitude of choices to be wrapped in warmth. Look for oversized, thick and chunky knits to play a key role in scarves, wraps, sweaters and cardigan sweaters.
    3. Pinstripes: Anything menswear is always referred to as “power dressing,” and the menswear classic pinstripe is playing a key role in the dressed up suit vest trend.
    4. Shimmery Materials: High shine finishes are every where from leather purses to dresses and shoes. Where golden metallics were trendy over the summer, this winter, look for silvers to play the starring role.
    5. Leather: Whether is is vegan, faux, or natural, leather is all the rage this season. Look for this fabric in the classic leather blazer, trench coat, and jacket as well as in pants and skirts. Also look for leather details in clothing like leather pockets, panels and trim.
    6. Lace: This might be your trendiest option for your holiday parties this year, as sheer details offer a romantic and feminine combo.
    7. Faux Fur: Cozy up this winter with luxe textures like shearling and faux fur.

If you’d like some more information on this topic, have a question or want to see examples, please watch my live Wednesday Wardrobing Video tonight at 6 p.m. MST. To see my live videos on the trendy colors and styles for the season, you can check those out here on my YouTube page.

    8 Key 2023 Fall/Winter Style Trends

My September Wednesday Wardrobing Live Series is all about the most important trends of the season, so you can be your best fashionista! Last week, I covered the key colors for the season. If you missed that blog post, grab that here.

This week, I will be covering the important style trends of the season. It isn’t enough to know what the key colors are if you don’t know how to wear them. That is where the style trends come in to play. Style trends are essentially “how to wear it” guidelines for the season.

    So let’s dive in:

    1. All over denim: Gone are the days when you needed to match or contrast your denim. This season, do whatever you want. Pair up various shades of vintage wash or light and dark denims. Or, if it is your jam, match your denim head to toe. The key is to wear denims together. Pair your denim jacket or vest with your jeans. Wear a denim shirt with a denim vest.
    2. Power Dressing: All hail to the return of the suit!! Blazers, pleated slacks, and matched suiting are all key looks this season. Go old school and get super trendy with a matching blazer, menswear vest and slacks!! Girl it up by adding a feminine blouse with ruffles and ties. Remember those 80’s oversized blazers? They are BACK!! Roll the sleeves to show a contrasting print and pair them with a skinny slack to balance the shoulder pads.
    3. Uniform dressing: If you love monochromatic and cozy pants, tops and cardigans, you are going to LOVE this new trend. Think head to toe snuggle that you can wear to work. This trend offers knit basics that can be paired together for an office worthy look and then broken apart for a more casual style.
    4. Wardrobe Basics: Love me some staples!! How about you?? If you like classic button down blouses, easy to pair blazers, sleek and dressy leggings, and wide leg jeans, you will love this mix and match trend that is all built around closet staples.
    5. Head To Toe Leather: As a fabric, leather is key this season, but as a style trend, wearing it paired up is the way to go. You will see leather and vegan leather blazers, dresses, skirts, pants and coats. Wear them together to up your style and edge.
    6. Classic Black And White: Cruella Deville would be in love with this trend!! The combination of these two colors is timeless and seasonless, and we love it because not only is it classic, it is classy. Be sure you have some staples in both colors this season and wear them together!!
    7. Oversized Outerwear: Look for your favorite puffy jackets to have larger baffles and squares and to be super puffy. You’ll love wearing this trend when the snow flies!!
    8. Colorful Knits: There are lots of key colors from this season’s palate that are “pop” worthy, and for winter, you will primarily see this in bold sweaters used to brighten up your wardrobe. Whether it is Blue Atoll, Sparkling Grape, Lacecap Hydrangea, Sharp Green, or Fiery Red, there are ample options to amp up your color game this season.

To see examples of all of these trends, watch my live video tonight at 6 p.m. MST. Catch me live and ask questions or watch the #replay. Either way, be sure to comment on your favorite styles trends and what you are looking the most forward to rocking this season! I love your feedback!!

Hat, Glove And Scarf Trends for Winter 2022

Old Man Winter is fully in swing here in Wyoming, and that cold wind does blow. It is most definitely hat, glove, and scarf weather. Just like you can ruin a stylish outfit with the wrong shoes or handbag, you can also ruin a stylish coat with outdated winter accessories. That’s why you’ll want to know the latest hat, glove and scarf trends so you can keep up to date.

    Hat Trends:

    1. Beanies: By far the most popular hat trend is the beanie, but there are multiple types of beanies that you can choose from. Right now, you will find Pom Beanies like the one pictured above on the right that are distinguished by some type of pom on the top, slouchy beanies that have an oversized look that hangs off the top of your head, and pony tail beanies that have holes and allow for you to wear a hat with a pony tail. Whatever type you choose, make sure it coordinates with your coat, scarf and gloves. I really recommend buying your winter accessories at the same time to keep everything matched.
    2. Other popular styles of hats right now are bucket hats, wool berets, and fedoras. Bucket hats look like you are wearing a bucket upside down on your head. Berets are classically French and are usually worn to the side of your head, and fedoras are structured hats like the one pictured at the top on the left. You will also see newspaper boy hats this season which are characterized by a bill and usually a rounded top.

    Glove Trends:

    1. Vegan Leather: just like the abundance of vegan leather jackets and vests that are popular this season, gloves are following suit with faux leather and suede verities. These are great because they are usually solid colors that are easy to pair with printed scarves and hats.
    2. Plaid: Similarly, the strength of plaid this season, especially in blouses and shackets, has carried over to gloves. You’ll find a variety of gloves adorned with plaid prints. Be careful, however, not to overdo the plaid as you can end up with a plaid hat, scarf and glove which might be too much unless they are designed to go together.
    3. Knits: Gloves are really following the sweater trends this season. The strongest knits in sweaters are hombre yarns, variegated yarns and cable knit styles. You’ll find knit gloves with these same elements that are essentially mini sweaters on your hands!

    Scarf Trends:

    1. Cowl neck scarves: Half the sweaters in my store right now have Cowl Necks, and some even have removeable Cowl Necks, so it is no surprise that this type of a neck can also double as a great “scarf.” The best part is you don’t have to add a scarf because your sweater will do it for you.
    2. Cashmere: This style never goes out, but this season, you will see extra long cashmere scarves that you can wrap multiple times. Watch my Wednesday Wardrobing Live Video 11/30/22 to see some examples.
    3. Fringe Edged: Scarves with fringe on the edges is also popular. These can be large, oversized scarves, or smaller wool scarves.
    4. Plaid: As with gloves, plaids are very popular in scarves this season. Just remember to match a plaid to the color of your coat and don’t over do it with too many plaid elements.

That’s it…so many options to choose from. Being truly stylish means you pay attention to how everything works together not only in your outfit but in your accessories as well. Don’t ruin a great look with out of date or mismatched outerwear accessories, and don’t ruin a great coat with a hat, some gloves and a scarf that don’t look like they coordinate.

Stay warm and stylish my friends!

3 Tips To Rock Your Style For Thanksgiving

Everybody does Thanksgiving a little differently. Some eat early in the day, some eat mid day and some wait for dinner time. No matter how your family does it, chances are, you are going to be in your Thanksgiving day outfit for several hours at the minimum and, in some cases, all day. You want to look nice but also be comfortable. We all know the miserable feeling of having eaten a Thanksgiving meal in clothes that felt just fine before you ate and that you could hardly wait to get out of after you were finished!! It is sheer torture and really hinders your ability to enjoy your family and friends. As a result, carefully considering your outfit choice for Thanksgiving is a must. In this blog post, I will share three tips to making great outfit choice and, hopefully, give you some ideas for choosing the perfect look.

Layer It Up: There are several reasons why wearing layers for Thanksgiving makes a whole lot of sense. First, if you are going to someone else’s house, layers let you adjust your temperature accordingly – too cold, keep your layer on or too hot, take it off. Similarly, a vest or jacket can be very effective in hiding an expanded stomach after the meal is finished and help you feel more comfortable. Whether you choose a vest, a longer sweater cardigan or a jacket, layering adds dimension to your look that naturally dresses it up and has many practical applications as well.

Consider the looks above. In each outfit, (with the exception of the unlayered blouse and pant), the added layer levels up the style. Imagine the sweater without the vest of the tunic without the sweater cardigan, as an example, the outfit would seem less dressy and trendy. It may be that you spend some time outside having a drink expanding the space in the home, having the extra layer is perfect for moving from indoors to outdoors easily.

Wear Holiday Colors: Whether you choose holiday reds and greens or browns and rusts, wearing colors that go with the season is a great way to make your look feel special for this special day. Because rust is such a strong color this season, you should be able to find ample options out there that will match the traditional golds, browns, and orange in Thanksgiving decorations.

Take a look at the outfits I have highlighted at the top for examples. In the top row, starting from the left, the first look combines trendy rust denim pants with a lovely cable knit sweater and copper puffy vest. The second and third look, on the other hand, focuses more on Christmas colors with a lovely Christmas red blouse and a tunic with Christmas greens. On the bottom row, the look to the left combines vintage wash jeans with a white blouse that is layered with a faux suede vest. The next is the classic dressy blouse paired with a black slack, but I have chosen a rust blouse that coordinates perfectly with Thanksgiving colors. The last look combines a trendy plaid blouse with a faux wool jacket and distressed jeans. Each look offers differing levels of dressiness but all are great examples of perfect looks for the holiday.

Wear Comfy Pants: We’ve all seen the memes about getting your “fat pants” ready or setting your scales back 10 lbs. Make no mistake, Thanksgiving is a day for over-eating. More than any other part of your outfit, the pants you choose for the day are of utmost importance. Make sure they are stretchy and comfy and will expand as necessary!

I love leggings for Thanksgiving because I sell several brands that have tummy shapers in them, and if there is ever a day where I want some extra “shaping,” that is the day! Most of our jeans also have tummy panels in them as well to help, and in both bottoms, the fabric will stretch so you are comfortable sitting or standing.

Wearing the wrong outfit to your holiday dinner can ruin the event. When you are uncomfortable, it is hard to enjoy the delicious food or the company. Being in a hurry to leave because you can’t wait to get out of your clothes robs you off precious time with your loved ones. Taking some time to think through your outfit and the requirements of your day is well worth your time an energy. Watch my live Wednesday Wardrobing video tonight at 6 p.m. MST for more outfit ideas and discussion on this topic.

3 Ways To Style A Plaid Shirt

Continuing my “3 Ways To Style” series, this week’s blog post is focused on new ways to style a plaid blouse. The great thing about blouses is that they are so versatile. At a bare minimum, you can always style a basic button up blouse left out, tucked in, or tied in the front. The full style potential of a blouse is not realized, however, until you begin layering. Here are my top 3 ways to layer a plaid blouse.

    1. Layer over a graphic tee and under a vest: This is a fun style and is perfect for a cold day because this style adds the extra layer of a vest for warmth that can be worn by itself or under a coat. When you are matching a tee and a plaid shirt, just be sure the colors in the tee are also in the top. For example, if your plaid shirt has black, white and pink, choose a graphic tee that is in one of those colors.
    2. Layer over a striped tee and under a jacket: Mixing stripes and plaids is a fun way to pair patterns. The same principle applies as what I described with layering with a graphic tee. Match your stripes to the colors in your plaid shirt. In my example above, a black and white striped top would be a great choice. Then, choose a coordinating jacket in a solid color to go over the top. This style can be dressed up also and made to work with your work slacks when you choose a dressier jacket or even a blazer.
    3. Layer a plaid blouse under a sweater: Showing the plaid shirt collar and tail under a coordinating solid or printed sweater is another great way to layer your top. It adds dimension and character to the sweater and also an extra layer of warmth. Layering a vest or jacket over the sweater is also a great option.

In my weekly Wednesday Wardrobing Video this week, I demonstrated each of these ideas. Watch that video here: 3 Ways To Style A Plaid Shirt
